February 10, 2006: More Tourney Fighting

As I dug trough my photo archives, I found more images of fighters at a Crown Tourney from way back when...

February 8, 2006: Translating a Dream

I am not a student of Old English, but this quote [from Raymond Lull] was like something uttered in a dream. I could understand so much of it, and yet there were words that made no sense. I felt it was worth my time to translate it into something that more easily flows through my modern English thinking mind.

February 5, 2006: Padding an SCA Helmet

It's obvious that the shape of the top of your head does not match the shape of your helmet. Every fighter has a different way of making up the difference. Here's mine.

February 5, 2006: Beltane A.S. 40

Information about the upcoming Beltane celebration.

January 30, 2006: New Shoes

Finally, after months of having parts laying around, and losing some of them, I've finished my next set of shoes.

January 26, 2006: Hamas & Fatah

Hamas won a landslide victory over Fatah in the recent parlimentray election (January 2006) in Palestine. The casual observer probably has no idea what this means, so I've taken it upon myself to ask a couple of questions

January 26, 2006: El Azteca

Good food, but little else. I'll still eat there, while I'm looking elsewhere.

January 17, 2006: Iran & Nuclear Power

The Iranians want to use enriched uranium in their nuclear reactors. The problem is that spent enriched uranium can be "re-enriched", resulting in usable reactor uranium and plutonium as a byproduct.

January 11, 2006: Bacterial Marketing

Get me some antibiotics, these ads are making me sick.

January 10, 2006: Goblet of Fire

A short review of the latest Harry Potter move. I liked it, and here's why.

January 10, 2006: Can't publish, too busy playing Warcraft!

I resisted for over a year after I heard about Warcraft III. Eventually, I loaded the game on my laptop. Now the game is trying to take over!

January 9, 2006: More Limericks

A couple of limericks with an SCA theme.

December 28, 2005: Stephen R. Donaldson-itis

It's what turns me off to so many movies/shows that are supposed to be entertaining. Exactly why is this in my roleplaying section? Well, Roleplaying is interactive storytelling ...

December 27, 2005: iTrip Tip

Radio stations depend on your car's antenna to get through to you, but you don't want one on the frequency your iTrip is set to. You can get a much cleaner signal between your iTrip and your stereo if you have an antenna that can be collapsed, or unscrewed and removed. Since the iTrip is within a few feet of your stereo, you can receive a clear signal from your iTrip without any real antenna. So remove your antenna before a long trip, or tuck it down to a nub so those strange stations in the middle of nowhere can't cut into your music.

December 26, 2005: Evolution by Design

In so many cases people present us with false dilemas. The argument between those who refuse God and those who refuse Science comes to a head regularly, and each time both groups present their beliefs as mutually exclusive of the other. Here's what I have to say to them.

December 26, 2005: Marie Calender's and Zack's

Annette and I hit two restaurants outside of our usual stomping grounds, while heading to her mom's house for Christmas.

December 22, 2005: Printing with CSS

OK, so you go to your favorite food site and print out a recipe for stuffed mushrooms. You get ten lines of recipe surrounded by three pages of junk that resembles the navigation for the site, and non clickable non animated jumbo ads. You can't do much about their shoddy work, but here's how to avoid doing the same to people who visit your site.

December 21, 2005: Sable Wolf logo

An example of a black and white flat form logo. It's the mark I designed for the Sable Wolf.

December 18, 2005: Narnia Revisited

Considering that I haven't read the series in years, I would not be the best source for a measure of the movie's fidelity to the original story. BUT, I can say that the movie was definitely entertaining, and seemed to follow the book rather well.

December 12, 2005: Pepe's

Another Restaurant Review? Aready? Well, a guy's gotta eat!

December 12, 2005: Capitalism in China?

If we're the capitalists, Why is China winning the Trade War?

December 11, 2005: Ron's Restaurant Reviews

This is hardly a high-brow restaurant review page. Instead, this is a series of quick notes about good food wherever Annette and I happen to eat. We get the ball rolling with King Buffet and Los Caballos.

December 11, 2005: A note about Christmas

It needs to be said. GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR COLLECTIVE ASSES! OK, there, I said it. Now lets talk about how we should treat each other.

December 10, 2005: Cool free Mac software: DoubleCommand

DoubleCommand is software for Mac OS X (a kernel extension) that lets you remap keys, in other words change the way your keyboard works. Often used to make a PC keyboard more comfortable with a Mac, swapping the Alt (Option) and Windows (Command or Apple) keys, since they are in swapped positions on Mac and PC keyboards. DoubleCommand is a quick and easy way to fix this if you use a PC keyboard with your Mac.

December 10, 2005: Simple fixes

After a minor freak out on my part, I have fixed an interface issue in the SCA Search engine. There are two text entry fields for site searches. One is for the search item, the other is for the key code to verify human entry. They're now clearly marked, as it is easy to reverse their order, and get no results for your effort!
