September 30 - October 2, 2005: Crown Tourney

October Crown was held in Petaluma this time. Bailey busted butt as Autocrat to make it a really good event. Annette covered all the bases Bailey couldn't, and I did everything I could to keep our camp sane and functioning since our two organizer types were streatched a little thin. Fabian won, The Viking guy from Antir was comondobolus, and Victoria got to third round.

September 29, 2005: a day of (me-owch!) infamy

Junior no longer has balls. He spent the day at the vet while Annette and I worked to pay for his "elective" surgery. What an odd name we decided to give him, Junior. At least he used to be a little boy cat. He "meuued" like a little girl all the way home in the car, then slept like a rock.

September 28, 2005: Snip Snip

it's still a showdown at the NOT so OK corral, but tomorrow, Junior goes to the vet to get "tutored".

September 25, 2005: The Good, The Bad, and The Kitten part deux

Yes, you've been waiting for at least 19 hours, but finally, there is an update to the Kitten story! Page 2 has photos of the Kitten. Page 3 "Cramping Gracie's Style" has more of this ongoing story.

September 23, 2005: The Good, The Bad, and The Kitten

Some days are busier than others. Today, I get to put up a second What's New item. Actually I'm entering this on the 24'th, but its about the 23'rd.

This is the first installment of a set of notations on what happens when you add a kitten to a household with two cats ... Read on in The Good, The Bad, and The Kitten.

September 23, 2005: Favicons for FREE

I was browsing my error logs at work today (yes, its a geek thing) and found that I have a bunch of 404 errors due to not having a favicon on my site. Damn that Microsoft! They're constantly coming up with new dumb things like favicons, and other proprietary nonsense. I'd have to make a 16x16 pixel, 8 bit png image and put it on my site. All I had to do was open photoshop... too bad my laptop was at home.

Lucky for me, I found an Online Favicon Maker. Favicon.ru is a free online applet that lets you upload an image, convert it to a favicon, and save it to your machine for later upload to your site. I used it, you can too.

September 21, 2005: Linux Bricolage UP!

After lots of mucking about, I have finally got Bricolage installed on my linux box. Now, maybe I can start using my laptop as a laptop again.

August 29, 2005: Purg

I just got back from Purgatorio. That's an SCA Event, not Itallian for Purgatory. Leoghtulf got knighted, after a really cold vigil that went from friday night to saturday morning. I stayed up as guard until about 4 am. Victoria (gung-ho crazy junior squire) stayed up all night long.

August 16, 2005: Hardened Leather

I've been working at making hardened leather for armor bits. I found that the thicker the leather, the less it shrinks, and the harder it is to get it fully dry. In fact, thicker leather needs to be slowly baked in an oven to get the water out.

August 6, 2005: Protectorate Tourney

I had the pleasure of crowning my lady, Anne of Whaleshaven, as the next Lady of Love and Beauty of the Canton of Borderwinds. I've wanted to win this tournament for years, but never seemed to be ready. This year, I've earned the right to add my device to the baldric of the Lord Protector of Broderwinds.

August 1, 2005: ABC Stinks!

ABC packed 6 minutes of commercials into every 15 minutes of "The Sixth Sense". Is it just ABC, or are other Networks doing this? I'm sure this is a reaction to the number of Tivo/DVR units in American homes. Since fewer and fewer people are watching commercials, Networks are having to cut the amount they charge for advertising, and increase the number of ads to make up for the loss in revenue. At least with more ads, they don't have to pay for as much programming!
